Invaluable information
After losing my mother in April, I realized just how much more difficult it would have been had I not had this book. She spelled out everything I needed to know to fullfill her wishes and to make the process easier for me. EVERYONE, no matter the age, should have their own copy to assist their family once they are gone. It's a peaceful feeling knowing you've taken care of your family member exactly the way they would have liked.

In the Checklist of Life: A Working Book to Help You Live &
I found this book on my Daddy's desk last week when he died. Without it we would have been utterly LOST. I came up here to Amazon to purchase this book for my desk - it was indispensible, and once again my GOOD Father has shown me the RIGHT way to help loved ones. C.

Every home should have one!!!
"In the Checklist of Life" was a book that I found to be indispensible. In retrospect, after losing someone close to you, you realize how important this book really is. I have always joked with my family about writing my own obituary, and here is my very own chapter in which to do just that. The chapter about your pets is one that should not be missed for all pet lovers. This book is smart, it's funny, it makes you think, it makes you cry. Be kind to your family and fill in the pages of this wonderful book. They will forever be thankful.

The Jack Tales
Published in Hardcover by Callaway Editions (October, 2000)
Authors: Ray Hicks, Lynn Salsi, and Owen Smith
Average review score:

Great American Culture Book
This book is appropriate for all ages. The illustrations are outstanding, vivid, creative, and cause children to notice every little detail. The illustrations and text are brilliantly enhanced by a special C.D. by the storyteller. This text brings the boy Jack of Jack in the Beanstalk fame into American culture. He arrived in America in colonial times and those who settled in Appalachia kept his memory alive through oral tradition. This book puts Jack in the same league as "Johnny Appleseed", "Paul Bunyun", and "Pecos Bill".

Wonderfully Realized Storybook
I found this volume perfectly presented. The warmly and colorfully told tales are matched by the rich and humorous illustrations. The style of the illustrations as well as the actual production of the book remind of classic books we grew up with. The audio CD add another layer of authenticity.

Jack soars
I bought this book for my grandchildren and loved it as did my grandchildren. Hicks is a famous appalachian story teller and although the stories are somewhat familiar, Hicks gives them his own twist. The best part and what makes the book are the illustrations-somewhat in the style of Thomas Hart Benton and very well suited and expressive of what are essentially country stories. Owen Smith, the illustrator has done many New Yorker magazine covers- let's hope he illustrates many more children's books.

The Joy of Healthy Skin: A Lifetime Guide to Beautiful Problem-Free Skin

Author: Lynn J. Parentini

Ultimate Guide!
Lynn has the right idea with this awesome book! This book will tell you everything you need to know about basic skin care that's right for YOUR skin type! Recipes, ideas, even a weekend at-hom spa "menu", this book is a must have!

A Book to Put into Your Library
I found the book EXCELLENT! It is very well written, easy to read, but most of all, the information in there is superlative. There were some things that were addressed in the book that I had personally experienced in my own experience, but had never heard addressed in any other book dealing on the subject of skin care. Because of this I could personally relate to the book. All "Special" books go into my personal library which is very small, and only the "exceptional" books go there. This is one of them. If you are interested in skin care and maintenance, this book will tell you how to do it from diet to topical considerations. Read this book !

Excellent reading. Full of great information.
I found this book not only the most informative book, on the subject of skin care, but the author has written a book that the average person can really understand. While I thought that this is going to be another "me too" skin care book...to the contary, its fun to read and has been a real source of information. Its a must read for anyone who really cares about aging and skin care.

The Joy of Natural Childbirth: Fifth Edition of Natural Childbirth and the Christian Family
Published in Paperback by Bookmates Intl (1994)
Authors: Helen Wessel, Ingrid Trobisch-Youngdale, and Lynn Johnson
Average review score:

wonderful book for Christian women
I read this book when I was pregnant with my second child way back in 1970. After having a medicated birth I knew their had to be a better way. With the help of books like this one, plus Grantly-Dick-Read's Natural Childbirth. I had a wonderful birth experience with my second and third child. After eons of being taught that we must suffer as part of the curse its great to learn and realize that it is labor; hard work. Very helpful book and a great inspiration. God is awesome. Men may think they've got it made by not having to have babies but to me it was an truly awesome, spiritual experience that I wouldn't trade for a million $$.

Helpful and inspiring!
How should Christians view childbirth? Is "natural childbirth" some fad started by hippies and humanists? Should Christians use midwives? These were questions that were being batted around by a group of us fairly new mothers back when I was pregnant with my second baby. I wish I'd had this book then. It presents a Biblical view of childbirth...a view that tells us that childbirth can indeed be joyful. Is this pie-in-the-sky stuff only for "earth mothers" or women who delight in "toughing it out" or being martyr-like during labor? Not at all! I have had the sort of joyful birth that this book describes and teaches. If you want to be inspired and taught on a practical level about childbirth and its significance for Christian families, this is a must read.

Wanna know what the Bible REALLY says about childbirth?
If so, read this book! The late Helen Wessel studied the Scriptures in their original language, and discovered the truth about Eve's "curse". The first half of the book is written as a story, about a young Christian couple expecting their first baby. There is alot of information to be picked up in the story, and even more follows in the second half of the book.

Part 2 has such chapter titles as "Childbirth Through the Centuries," "Childbirth in the Bible," "The Medical Model," "Family Sheltered Birthing," "Birthing God's Way," "The Joy of Natural Childbirth," and "The Joy of Breastfeeding." One of these chapters alone makes the book worth buying. All of them put together makes it a must-read, even if you are not planning an unmedicated birth.

Leading at the Speed of Change: Using New Economy Rules to Transform Old Economy Companies
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Trade (10 May, 2001)
Authors: Bill Capodagli, Lynn Jackson, William Capodagli, and Lyn Jackson
Average review score:

It's a page-turner; it's a business book: It's both
Enjoy this book. Be gripped by it. Learn from it. I did all three. LEADING AT THE SPEED OF CHANGE is a different kind of business book: it almost reads like a novel. It's a riveting tale of vision, courage, and perseverance, with action guides after each chapter to nail the main points and help you be the hero of your own business story. Authors Capodagli and Jackson cheer Rick Roscitt and his maverick AT&T Solutions team as they Dream, Believe, Dare, and Do their way to phenomenal start-up success. AT&T CEO Mike Armstrong is praised for blessing and nourishing the breakaway unit, and he is also fairly and frankly assessed for re-shaping the corporation into a global communications one-stop shop, and then recently dividing it into four parts. Throughout, Capodagli and Jackson are passionate but clear-eyed observers, and masterful teachers, too. This will be no surprise to readers of their previous books THE DISNEY WAY and THE DISNEY WAY FIELDBOOK which established their business-as-show business approach. In the close, overstuffed warehouse of business books today, Capodagli and Jackson are a welcome and invigorating breath of fresh air.

A Tale of Two Cultures, indeed!
In Leading at the Speed of Change, Capodagli and Jackson combine artful storytelling with hard hitting facts about AT&T and its prize division, AT&T Solutions. The book begins with a flashback to 1993, where AT&T vet Rick Roscitt had a profound vision. And from this creative burst of business energy he, and a team of 12, pioneered Solutions into a model that can potentially alter the way things are done throughout all of AT&T. In a time where AT&T bashing is the norm, it was refreshing to read this book and find a bright spot. But don't think that Capodagli and Jackson were blind to what was happening just down the road. In fact, they pay considerable attention to the impending break up, and what CEO Michael Armstrong and AT&T could have possibly done to avoid this fiasco. In this chapter, I also found that it served as a wake-up call to any business. A small organization can falter as well (or perhaps more easily) from the same mistakes made by this telecommunications behemoth. Capodagli and Jackson rely on their management consulting background to provide criticism as well as prescriptive advice, breaking things down into eight simple, but essential, categories: Vision, Values, Alliances, Acculturation, Predictable Problems, Failing Forward Fast, Quintessential Teams, and Customer Intimacy. For those of you unhappy with the status quo, from the corporate CEO to the small business owner, Leading at the Speed of Change is a must read.

The Lord Is My Song: A Novel (Chronicles of the King (Kansas City, Mo.), Bk. 2.)
Published in Paperback by Beacon Hill Press (January, 1996)
Author: Lynn N. Austin
Average review score:

On my third set . . .
I love this series so much that I have had to replace the entire set three times. I lend them out and they disappear!
These are by far the finest novels that Ms. Austin has written. I was drawn into the story, and I just couldn't put the books down. Ms. Austin provides Scriptural references so it is easy to see what she is basing her story on. After reading the Scriptures, elements in the story that are taken right out of the Bible are easily discerned from those that the writer may be taking an artist license with. It breathed life into these characters and made them very relevant to me.

I immediately began reading the remaining books in the series, and every one was a delight. I enthusiastically recommend the series.

Soaring above its class, this is top-drawer writing
The writing is well-done; the content is well-researched, inspirational, provoking AND entertaining!

Outstanding combination of prophecy, history, and fiction.
In this book, Austin aligns the brief Biblical account of King Hezekiah to the words of the prophets of the times along an exciting line of fiction. Prophecies, often confusing or misunderstood suddenly come alive as they are placed into everyday situations and applied to specific situations. This book creates in your mind a thrilling scene of the reality of the despair of Israel and Judah and an understanding of the great compassion Yaweh has for his Chosen People. After reading this book, you will never read prophecy the same again.

Wonderful Characters!
I really loved this book! The characters are great, it has lots of action/battles, and a great overall storyline. I especially enjoyed the humor the characters displayed. (The archery contest made me laugh hard!)

Action,Adventure and Romance.A sure crowd pleaser!
What a great read . It had everything I want in a book. In fact "The Lost Warrior reminded me a lot of Indiana Jones , for want of a better example.I've read it multiple times and it only gets better with each read. The Author had great characters,a heart pounding plot, vivid scenery and a mix of creatures that would be hard to match.
Malissa was enthralling . I can't wait to see more of her.The spiders are sure to make anyones skin crawl. The Horse race was a lot of fun to read.
All in all , I can't wait to read more about Morgan and Max. Their characters are a wonderful match . Never a bored moment with these two.
I'll be watching for the next installment.

Great adventure!
I really loved this fantasy/science fiction novel. It is fast-paced and held my interest from beginning to end.

The author creates a world of heroes and villians, good vs. evil in the classic style, with some great original twists.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves to lose themselves in another world. I hope to see more from the author, and soon!

The Love and Power Journal

The Love and Power Journal (by Lynn V Andrews)
I happened on this journal in a little bookstore in Black Mountain, NC in August of 1999. At the time my Dad was terminally ill. My brother, my Dad, and I were going through a most difficult time, emotionally. Anyway, I started working in this journal the first of September, 1999. It is a very wonderful tool for healing and uniting our inner selves. It requires DEEP introspection and therefore offers DEEP healing. I positively recommend this book, but remember before you start the journey be ready to do some real, sometimes painful, rewarding work. God Bless You!

Beautiful inspirational journey...!
Okay, so I haven't completed reading the book yet (which takes a year if you do it properly, I might add! plus it was only published in 1999), but I just had to say that so far this book is a beautiful experience. Lynn's spirituality radiates through to the reader and it truly a life-affirming experience.

The book weekly meditations that inspire you to reflect deeply on yourself, and to make changes in your life where necessary. It includes journal writing, some spiritual/meditative ritualising that even the most conservative reader could find enlightening.

A word of warning: if you aren't ready for a journey towards discovering your true self, don't buy this book! However, if you feel ready to confront your inner shadows, go for it. Buy it, approach the book (and your life) with an open & investigative mind and you won't regret it. Cheers!

The Enjoyable Road to Life Mastery
This is a great gift for yourself or others. It's attractive, so it really makes one want to get involved with this life-enhancing path. The author , as you probably know, is well-immersed in this field. In this book/journal, she offers a weekly lesson for introspection and illumination. These lessons include a thought for reflection that is the essence of that week's journey. The last half of the book offers lined journal pages for your use in exploring journal topics, etc. Every page is nicely decorated with shamanistic symbols. Each week's topics are not just random; they are designed in an order to lead the reader on a year-long quest for better Self-hood. It's really an exciting opportunity packaged in an enticing workbook.

Mammal Tracks : Life-Size Tracking Guide
Published in Spiral-bound by Heartwood Press (01 January, 2001)
Authors: Lynn Levine and Martha Mitchell
Average review score:

An "ah-ha!" type of book.
It has been so hard to find a decent tracking book, but now here's a good one. What I like best is that it gives me a game plan for determining what type of tracks I'm looking at. In the past, I've been overwhelmed trying to find the tracks in front of me in a book. This book has me first looking at how the tracks are laid out in comparison with each other: hoppers, bounders, waddlers. There are plenty of pictures and explanations to guide me. Just this little change in perspective taught me a lot about the animals I am trying to track. From there, I'm given more ideas on what to look for and what the tracks are telling me. This book is not only teaching me how to identify tracks (which alone is pretty good), but it is also teaching me about the animals themselves and how they move and interact with their environment. A few days after getting this book, my boyfriend and I went skiing. As we rode the chairlift over the snow, we both spotted some tracks beneath us and in one voice shouted "Ah-ha! Bounders!" It was a joyous start to really understanding mammal tracking.

Pure Magic ...
This informative, easy to follow guide has truly been designed to be used on nature walks. One of the amazing things about this guide is in its appeal to young and more mature readers alike. The large pages and clear drawings (not to mention the waterproof paper) allows you to put the pages right on the forest floor or on the snow, to get a true side-by-side comparison of the tracks.

The authors have taken great pains to teach the reader how to determine not only the type of animal's tracks, but what the animal may have been doing, with examples along the way. The novice tracker will appreciate the authors' three-step approach to determining the type of animal you are tracking.

They also refer to the "magical experience" of tracking, which can often be lost in the clinical process. It's almost as though you are given permission to walk in the animal's tracks and "be" the marvelous creature you are tracking and learning about.

This book should be part of any outdoor organization's required reading. It takes the mystery out of tracking, but leaves the magic. Brava!!!

Making Tracks to a Great Resource!
Lynn Levine, a renowned tracker and naturalist in Vermont, has compiled a great resource for anyone interested in wildlife tracking. I've used many books and resources to help me learn how to track, and this is quickly becoming one of my favorites! It's very portable, waterproof, and has lots of great details that are easy to quickly access in the field. The best part of this guide for me is the fact that the tracks in the guide are life-sized! My husband and I were out tracking on our property a couple of weeks ago, and we found some old tracks that were either made by a cottontail rabbit or a snowshoe hare. As novice trackers, we sat there with a measuring card trying to deduce what critter made the tracks. When we looked up the two species in Lynn's tracking guide, we immediately SAW that there was no way that anything but a cottontail rabbit could have made those tracks in this part of the country. That is but one of many discoveries we have already made in only a few weeks of owning the book. This is a wonderful addition to our library that any tracker, novice or expert, would be fortunate to have!

Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Peggy Parish and Lynn Sweat
Average review score:

Amelia Bedelia is the BEST!
When I was a kid, I wore Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia out! I probably couldn't tell you much about the plot, but anybody who's ever read an Amelia Bedelia book knows that it's all about her doing everything wrong! The only thing that sticks with me is the picture of Amelia stuffing the Christmas stockings with turkey stuffing, which to this day I find hilarious. I don't know what it is about this one particular story, maybe it's because it's the only Amelia Bedelia book I ever read, but I love it just the same. I my mind, it ranks up there with Charlotte's Web and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; it's just one of those funny, timeless books that fed my lifelong passion for reading and writing.

Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia
This book is really good for children of all ages. It shows you that you have to explain things in detail, because someone might take you literally. The writer is comical and serious at the ssame time which is a good combonation. This book also shows that you can mess up and things can still come out right.

My Review of Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia
I think that this is a good book for little kids. It is fun for them to read. When little kids read this they always laugh at how Amelia always makes mistakes. She always seems to do something wrong.
